In order to effectively protect your account and reduce the risk of account theft, we recommend enabling two-factor authentication for all your linked social media accounts. This stops hackers from stealing your game account through social media, and improves your overall account security.
See below for steps to enabling two-factor authentication on some frequently used social media platforms.
Facebook - Enabling Two-Factor Authentication
1. Go to Settings:
Tap Password and security - Use two-factor authentication.
2. Choose Security Method:
a. Recommended: Use login codes from a third party authentication app such as Google Authenticator.
b. Alternative: Use SMS codes from your mobile device.
3. Save Recovery Codes:
Generate 10 single-use recovery codes. Take a screenshot or print the codes to save them.
4. Finished: You'll be asked to enter a security code (app or SMS) the next time you log in.
X - Enabling Two-Factor Authentication
1. Go to Settings:
In the side menu, tap More - Settings & Support - Settings & Privacy - Security and account access - Security - Two-factor authentication.
2. Choose Security Method:
a. Recommended: Use an authentication app (link it by scanning a QR code).
b. Alternative: Use SMS codes from your linked mobile device (unavailable in certain countries).
c. Advanced: Use a security key (insert a physical device such as YubiKey).
3. Finish Setup:
Enter the 6-digit verification code generated by your authentication app, then tap "Got it."
Google - Enabling 2-Step Verification
1. Go to Settings:
Log in to Google - select Security - tap Turn on 2-Step Verification.
2. Choose Verification Method:
a. SMS: Enter the verification code sent to your mobile device.
b. Verification Code Apps (Recommended): Scan a QR code or manually enter a security code to link the app to your account.
c. Security Key: Insert a physical hardware security key.
3. Backup Codes:
Link Email/Phone Number - Generate backup codes.
Apple - Enabling Two-Factor Authentication
On your device:
iPhone/iPad: Settings - Apple ID at the top - Sign-In and Security - Turn On Two-Factor Authentication.
Mac: System Preferences - Apple ID - Sign-In & Security.
Verify Phone Number
Enter a trusted phone number - Enter the verification code received.
Finish setup.
When you sign in on a new device, you'll need to enter a 6-digit verification code sent to your trusted device.
